Fire Red Nuzlocke Part 8

Day 21:

Alright, been awhile, finally got through leveling Lagombi (Nidorino). As bored as I was and as fearful as I was of fighting Giovanni and losing another party member, Barioth (Vaporeon) literally one shot ko’d everything he threw at me, so that’s the final badge. So moving on Douche was waiting before Victory road. He was tougher, Although I had no response to his Pidgeot or Blastoise, I need to see if I can teach someone an electric move or something. Well moving on, time for Victory Road. I made it through Victory Road, deciding to train more at the end, I lost Kut-ku to a Geodude’s self destruct. How does a 32 Geodude self destruct one shot a 51 Fearow? just shows how weak Fearow was.

Still have a few islands to go through, but as far as the run is concerned I’m pretty much done. I’ll keep playing for a bit though to keep occupied until the midnight release of Pokemon X/Y tomorrow night. I’ll put of some screenshots from my phone later.

Remobra – Golbat
Barioth – Vaporeon

Those Fainted Along the Way:

Those who never got to fight.

and those lost along the way.

Fire Red Nuzlocke Part 7

Day 18:

(Traded with girlfriend, who is on her own Nuzlocke on Leaf Green, to evolve Haunter and Graveler)

Alright, Time to head for Cinnabar Island. Route 19 first encounter is a Tentacool nicknamed ‘Yama’ and Benched.Somehow I totally missed Route 20, i fainted whatever that was without even noticing the route change. Seafoam Island first encounter is a Psyduck, nicknamed ‘Gargwa’ and benched. This place is pretty simple, just drop all boulders down any nearby holes and walk on through.

Finally at Cinnabar Island. There appears to be a Lab here, so lets go give them all these fossil’s I’ve been lugging around. Dome Fossil revived into a Kabuto, nicknamed  ‘Ukanlos’ and benched. Old Amber revived into Aerodactyl, nicknamed ‘Fatalis’ and benched. Alright, Gym time……are you kidding me, you lost the gym key in the burned down mansion? why would you lose something so important, and why in there? Let me guess, I have to go get it as some kind of trial, don’t I? Fine, bu I’m kicking your butt when I get back. Pokemon mansion first encounter is a Grimer, nicknamed ‘Gigginox’ and benched. Man, why do all these doors still work, this is annoying. So I fell off a ledge and wound up in the basement, but at least I found the key, time to get out of this place, I’m sick of all the ash. I’m gonna go rest and shower, and tomorrow the seventh badge is mine.

Day 19:

Fire Gym Time, Blaine’s 4 Pokemon all one shot, each by Barioth’s Surf. Found Bill waiting outside, he took me to One Island and told me to take a meteorite to Two Island. These Islands have stupid names, how many are there……lets rename them. One Island is now Ichishima, Two Island is now Nishima. Well, it’s still One Island and Two Island, but at least this sounds less stupid….ha.ha. moving on let’s explore Ichishima. Kindle Road first encounter is a Persian, nicknamed ‘Lunastra’ and boxed. Awesome, I found a nice relaxing hot spring to take a break in and the maker gave me an HM for rock smash. Mt Ember first encounter is a Machop, fainted cause I was being dumb and acting like it was a battle. Took the boat to Nishima, Bill’s friend was nowhere to be found but a guy was looking for his daughter who ran away on Sanshima. Cape Brink first encounter is a Fearow, nicknamed ‘Gravios’ and benched. Sanshima is overrun with dumb bikers, I chased them away like the loser gang they are, not even Team Rocket level.

Day 20:

Apparently the girl is in a Berry Forest. Bond Bridge first encounter is a Pidgeotto, nicknamed ‘Espinas’ and benched. Berry Forest first encounter is a Hypno, nicknamed ‘King Shaka’ and benched. Well, the little girl was at the very end of Berry Forest, no surprise, being attacked by a Hypno. Hypno, who lures children away and eats their dreams. I saved this girl’s life. Then delivered her and the meteorite Boll asked me to deliver. Best Trainer ever right here folks. Now back to Bill. Back to Kanto, guess we can’t visit the rest of the islands until later. Well, still one gym left so lets head that direction. Route 21 first encounter is a Horsea, nicknamed ‘Cephadrome’ and benched. Hey, look at that, Vermilion’s Leader is finally here. . Well crap, I lost Basarios to a Machoke’s revenge. I’m going to have to switch him out, perhaps for Nidorino. Giovanni is the leader, I already kicked his butt twice, this will be no different.

Fire Red Nuzlocke Part 6

Day 15:

Alright, everyone is leveled up, time to go finish off Sylph Co. What the hell are you doing here Douche? Haven’t you learned you lesson yet, time to whoop your ass yet again. Ok, that loser’s taken care of, now onto save the Sylph Co President. Some random guy is giving me a Lapras, it gets names ‘Epioth’ and is transferred to the bench. Are you kidding me, a random Rocket grunt in between Douche and the Rocket Leader? I just trashed 9 floors of your buddies plus Douche, and you’re going to stand in my way? just don’t regret it, although I’m sure you already do. Well hello there again Giovanni, are you tired of me making your team look bad yet? Well, I’m here to kick your butt again. With Giovanni’s butt kicked and retreated in fear, the president of Sylph Co gives me a Master Ball and my work here is done.

Now it appears Saffron has two gyms, Lets go take a look. I think I will start with the one on the left, which appears to be a fighting dojo. Well, four members and the leader defeated easy enough by Goa Magara. They gave me a Hitmonlee I named ‘Cha-Cha’ and sent to the bench. That gym was fairly disappointing, lets go check out the other one. This one appears to be a psychic gym with warp tiles leading everywhere. Oh no, whatever will I do…..3 different Pokemon with ‘bite’ and the rest having high special attack. Yeah, Sabrina went down hard, this gym was also a disappointment. Well, thanks for the badge anyways, the other gym didn’t even give me that. I believe that is all Saffron has to offer.

Day 16:

After Sylph Co, all these random trainers are a cakewalk. Route 17  aka Cycling Road first encounter, another Spearow. Named ‘Hypnoc’ and added to the Spearow/Pidgey fodder/expendable pile. Route 18, another Spearow, nicknamed ‘Kushala’. Route 12 encounter is a Horsea, nicknamed ‘Plesioth’ and benched. Route 13 encounter is an Oddish, ah good a replacement for the other one if I need it, nicknamed ‘Altaroth’ and benched. Route 14 encounter is a Venonat, nicknamed ‘Thunderbug’ and benched. Route 15 encounter is another Venonat, nicknamed ‘Hornetaur’ and benched. What a ridiculously busy trip South this has been.

Welcome to Fuchsia City.

Day 17:

Alright, Fuchsia City, what do you hold for me? You hold the Safari Zone, first encounter Nidorino, nicknamed ‘Lagombi’ and benched. So I found a set of gold teeth someone lost, I hear they belong to the warden, what idiot loses his teeth? Hm, if you get far enough in they give you the HM for surf, that’s useful. Well, I picked up all the items people lost, guess they are mine now but I really don’t want these teeth so I guess I’ll return those. The Safari Zone warden gave me the HM for strength for returning his teeth, maybe I’ll start calling Fuchsia ‘HM City’ since they seem to hand out HM’s like candy here. Look’s like they also have a gym, the Poison Gym run by Koga. This is actually Gym number 5, since I’ve already done the 6th gym, this one was no problem.

So I flew up to the old abandoned power plant, but as suspected there really wasn’t anything of any value there. Time to move on, all that’s left is to swim south of Fuchsia and head towards Cinnabar Island. Good thing I just got the surf HM and can just ride Barioth, I do hear I need to go through a cave on the way, aren’t we done with cave’s yet?

Fire Red Nuzlocke Part 5

Day 12:

Alright, lets see what Celadon has to offer. Lets check out the housing here, large apartment building… nice rooms…decent people…’Free’ Eevee (nicknamed ‘Barioth’)… and moving on. Oh look, a large department store, definitely shopping time. Junky TM’s here, oh well at least there’s an evolution stone section, I need a few of these.  Vending Machines, yes, time to stock up on some sweet sweet soda pop. Next up, Looks like the grass gym is here, now this one will be easy, time to shine Rathian and those many many duplicate birds. Erika’s Grass Gym is now burned to the ground.

I hear there is a casino they allow minor’s into, how irresponsible. Oh it’s run by those team rocket loser’s, time to mess up there hideout and make them look stupid. Damn, I lost Diablos to a koffing’s self destruct, wrong guy Team Rocket wrong guy. Returning to the Poke center to deposit Diablos into the deceased box and retrieve Barioth to fill the empty slot. I’m also going to use a water stone to make Barioth into Vaporeon. Vaporeon will also receive the Water Pulse TM received from Misty.

Day 13:

Trained up and finished wrecking this Team Rocket hideout, beat the shit out of some guy named Giovanni, idiot left me a sylph scope. I guess it lets me see ghosts or something, so detour back to Lavender. Inside Pokemon Tower, guess who shows up, none other than that jerk Douche, he was weaker than any other time before, why won’t he leave me alone. Man, all these channeler’s are possessed, they really shouldn’t mess with ghosts if they don’t know what they are doing, serves em right. Are you kidding me, Team Rocket is here too….when will these guys learn I’m taking over Kanto, get out of here you losers. I received a Pokemon Flute from the guy in charge, kinda neat I guess, wakes up Pokemon, but then again I’m no musician so any instrument would do that in my hands. Anyways I hear Team Rocket is holed up in Sylph Co Headquarters, so I’m going to check that out. You dumb scientists, why are you fighting me, I’m here to help you, guess we know who the moles are.

Man, I lost Bnahabra to a Magneton, thanks a lot, Guess it was to be expected, Rathian went paralyzed and low HP, and the rest of my team is pretty much flying thanks to numerous repeats. I’m going to get Basarios (Geodude) out of the box to fill Bnahabra’s hole, should have gotten him out sooner. Now is the fun task of leveling him up to party level.

Day 14:

With Basarios leveled up, and a Snorlax named ‘Arzuros’ caught and boxed, back to Sylph Co I go. Everything seems to be going better than last time, Sylph Co is almost cleared now. Damn, another one lost to a wheezing explosion, Dosbiscus this time. Whelp, slot filled with Goa Magara, time to train him up to level, Then train everyone to be ready for the end of Sylph Co. It’s okay, I was thinking of switching out Dosbiscus anyways, just sucks to not have him available for later.

Fire Red Nuzlocke Part 4

Day 9:

Leveled Dosbiscus (Oddish) up to 21 evolving him to Gloom, Zubat to 21, and everyone else to 20. Then challenged Misty. Dosbiscus completely obliterated Misty. Cascade Badge obtained. Guess I’ll go south and check out that party Bill told me about.  Oh look, this rocket member stole someone’s Dig TM, guess I’ll teach him a lesson…..Thanks, it’s my TM now. Moving South, Route 5… Ooooo a Pidgey, nicknamed ‘YianGaruga’ and to the bench with you.

There appears to be a Day Care for Pokemon here, I have no use for you right now so goodbye until later sir. The road is closed, what BS is this I need to get south how am I supposed to do that now…… oh underground tunnel. What, is Saffron such a horrible place that people want to bypass it completely? oh well, lucky me or I’d be stuck for now.

Route 6, Another Pidgey, nicknamed ‘Gypceros’ and to the bench with you.

Ah, Vermilion  City, lets take a look around shall we. Hello sir… do I like to fish… well sure why not… oh, thank you for the fishing rod. Next, a Pokemon Fan Club, man this chairman talks forever just rambling on, oh a bicycle ticket… shouldn’t this be worth a lot of money? Diglett Tunnel eh, lets see where this goes….oh look a Diglett no surprise, nicknamed ‘Diablos’ and to bench for now until I can go switch out for you. Oh, Vermilion Forest is  where this leads, hm, a tree blocks my way I will have to come back later. I shall Return to Vermilion then. Oh sweet, Remobra(Zubat) evolved into Golbat on the way back.

Alright, one last thing I want to do today, might as well catch one last thing for awhile. Route 11, aw another Ekans, I’m getting tired of repeats. Oh well, nicknamed ‘Lagiacrus’ and to the box with thee. Back to the Poke Center, switch Kut-Ku for Diablos, and tomorrow I shall level him to party level.

Day 10:

Diablos is leveled up, cleaned up all the trainers on Route 11, time to head over to that party on the SS Anne. Wait on damn minute, this is no party this is a battle fest, everyone here wants to fight, their mistake. Son of a Douche, even he is here, well I’ll just clean his clock once again and teach him to leave me the hell alone, then I’m going to go have a word with the captain of this dinghy.  A sea-sick old man, what captain of a boat gets sea-sick, at least this loser gave me the cut HM. I’m outta here.

Day 11:

I’m told the third gym is here. Let’s go do that next….Surge is probably the lamest gym leader so far, all of his Pokemon each one shot by Diablos. Whelp, done here so back to Cerulean to get me a free bicycle, why are these things so expensive otherwise. Moving on, Route 9 yet another Ekans nicknamed ‘Agnaktor’ and benched. Route 10, yet another Spearow, it fainted…whoop dee do, I don’t even care anymore I’m getting so many repeats of the same few Pokemon. Looks like Rock Tunnel is the only route that will let me move forward, and first encounter is a Geodude, finally something new…caught. Nicknamed Basarios and benched. Made it through Rock Tunnel fairly easy enough, let a guy teach Rathian rock slide. What’s this, nothing to do in Lavender Town right now? That’s okay, this place is creepy lame and I hear I can get to Celadon soon. Route 8, another Pidgey, nicknamed ‘Khezu’ and benched. Through the bike tunnel and Route 7, a Meowth nicknamed ‘Nargacuga’ and benched. Welcome to Celadon, time to do some shopping, this also seems like a great place to spend a few days resting.

Fire Red Nuzlocke Part 3

Day 6:

Kut-ku(Spearow) is leveled up to the rest of the party at 16. Time to take a few steps into Mt. Moon, oh look a Zubat. No surprise there, Name….Remobra, and back outside to level you up. Busy today with D&D so that’s it.

By the way. this it the party at the moment. Rathian(Charmeleon), Quropeco(Spearow), Vespoid(Beedrill), Bnahabra(Butterfree), Kut-Ku(Spearow), and Remobra(Zubat).

Some Guy in the Pokemon Center here at the foot wants  Pokémon Dollar500 for a Magikarp. I may not have many Pokemon, but even I know that’s a bad deal. I will wait to get a water type later on, I’m no sucker.

Day 7:

Began my way through Mt. Moon. Relatively uneventful. Team rocket took hold of absolutely nothing and I kicked their sorry butts on a whim. Some archaeologist near the end gave me a Dome Fossil.

On Route 4, on the other side of Mt. Moon I managed to catch an Ekans, I named it Caedeus and it was transferred to my Bench.

Now entering Cerulean City, I hear the Second Gym is here. Also, there is a Bike Shop here, I could buy one if the Lunatic wasn’t asking  Pokémon Dollar1,000,000 for one. Note: May consider stealing one later on.

Day 8:

Heading north, Rival Douche, oh hell no. No, no, no, you go away. Haven’t you learned your lesson yet, well, lets go. Pidgeotto, took both Spearow’s to drop him, almost lost one. Rattata,  2 shot-ed by Butterfree. Squirtle, confused and helped kill itself. Abra? who uses an Abra, it has no attacks yet. Douche, you are a loser. Whine all you want. Smashed, Ignored, and moving on up the bridge. Oh god, everyone on this bridge wants to battle, and none of them are any good. Oh a free gold nugget, this was a challenge? Oh, you’re a Team Rocket group and you want me to join? As much as I want to, I work alone and stay away from loser groups. You’re going down harder than the five before you.

Route 24 first encounter is an lvl 14 Oddish, and captured. This will be useful for the Water Gym, I will replace one of the two Spearow’s and level him up. Nicknamed ‘Dosbiscus’.  Quropeco the Spearow goes to the box.

Route 25 first encounter is Abra. Teleported away after failed Poke ball attempt.

A House on the cape? Ah! A TALKING JIGGLYPUFF! Oh, your a scientist who screwed up with a teleporter. Question, we could become rich if you stay that way…..No? okay fine.

Go to a Gala on the SS Anne for you because you hate parties? wow you really are a nerd. Fine, if I make it on time I will. But I’m going to Cerulean Gym first.

Nuzlocke Rules (For those who don’t know)

In order for some people to understand what I’m doing here with Pokemon Fire Red, I thought I should post this.

For those curious which rules I use, I just follow the basic rule set. I add in the rules about catching legendary’s and shiny’s to transfer forward, and I “box” not “release” fallen companions to also transfer forward.

First of is the basic rule set:

*Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released.
*The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. If the first encounter in the area is a Double Battle in dark grass, the player may choose which of the two Pokémon they would like to catch.
*While not exactly a definite rule, the general consensus is that players must also nickname all of their Pokémon, for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds.
*Also not a definite rule, but the general consensus is that a black out/white out is considered to be “game over”, even if there are Pokémon left in the PC.
*Strongly implied, though not explicitly mentioned in the comic, is the stipulation that you can use only Pokémon you have captured yourself, meaning traded Pokémon, mystery gifts, etc., are prohibited. Trading and retrading the same Pokémon (for the purpose of evolving a Golem, for example) is something of a gray area, and may fall under optional rules. As of White: Hard-Mode Episode 3, it is implied that the player can accept Pokémon that are received freely from NPC characters.
*Also strongly implied is a prohibition against voluntarily resetting and reloading the game when things go wrong. Being able to do so would render all of the other rules pointless.

A few extra rules I had to look up clarification on:

*Gift Fossils are legal, as are Fossils found in the desert or caves. (Kabuto/ Archen/ Anorith etc.)
*Pokemon that must be traded in order to evolve (Haunter, Graveler, Machoke etc.) are perfectly legal, and you may have your friend help you evolve them if you wish.
*Regarding the Eevee that find is Celadon or receive from Bill in Goldenrod City: It is your choice to consider it as an Encounter or not. If you choose, you may either obtain the Eevee and a Pokemon from the Game Corner, OR exclude one or the other. The choice is yours to make.

However, there are also a number of optional rules if you want to make the run harder or more interesting:

*Starter Pokémon is based off the player’s Trainer ID number. If the last number is 1-3 the player starts with a Grass type, 4-6 is Fire type, 7-9 is Water type, 0 is the player’s choice.
*Species/Dupes Clause: Adjusting the first encounter rule to ban duplicate captures.
*Not officially enforcing the rules until the player has Poké Balls and can catch Pokémon. For example, the Poochyena’S/Zigzagoon’s that the player has to save Professor Birch from is not counted as the first encounter on the route, and not counting any other encounters as such until they can catch. Likewise, in the games where the rival battle is immediately after getting the starter Pokémon, the “any that faint must be released” rule is not enforced at that time.
*Use the same amount of Pokémon as the opponent during a Gym battle or rival battle.
*Going to options and making the battle style “set”, leaving the player unable to switch out.
*After the first wild Pokémon was caught, the starter Pokémon must be released.
*Banning the use of Potions and healing items, relying only on Pokémon Centers for healing.
*Banning the use of Pokémon Centers, relying only on Potions and healing items for healing.
*Limiting Pokémon Center visits to a certain number per town.
*Banning the use of held items.
*Limiting the number of Poké Balls to purchase per Poké Mart.
*Banning the use of Master Balls.
*Rather than releasing the Pokémon, it can be permanently boxed, migrated, or transferred with Poké Transfer should it happen to faint.
*The player may not evolve captured Pokémon, but evolved Pokémon may be caught.
*Turning the difficulty on to Challenge Mode if playing Black 2 or White 2, which increases the levels of opposing Trainers.
*No catching/using legendary Pokémon.
*As a mercy rule, allowing 1-3 “second chances” or revives of fallen team members.
*As another mercy rule, if the player runs into a Shiny Pokémon on the incredibly rare chance, the player may still catch it, regardless of whether or not it is the first encounter in the area. It also does not need to be released if it faints.
*If the player has no Pokémon that can use a certain field move that is required to continue through any given point of the game, they may catch another Pokémon that can learn said field move. However, it cannot be used in battle for any reason, and must be released, permanently boxed, or migrated as soon as the player gets another Pokémon that can use said field move.
*Modifying the “first encounter only” rule for the Safari Zone, sometimes allowing one encounter for each area, or until they catch one Pokémon in the entire area, and vice versa.
*Banning the use of Poké Marts.

Fire Red Nuzlocke Part 2

Day 3:

First stop, Pewter City Gym, oh right only one lackey this time…..SMASHED.
HOWEVER…..My team is Charmander, Spearow, Beedrill, Butterfree. Nothing special to kick Brock’s butt with. The only way I’m going to be able to survive is by Leveling…..extensively.

Day 4:

Leveling. (see above, might take a few days, I don’t like leveling but it needs to be done in order to continue. Will probably just stop counting days until then)

Day 5:

With Charmander at level 16 and Butterfree at 15, I was tired of leveling (I get bored of it easily). Thankfully Butterfree , after smashing Brock’s Geodude, Stun Spore and random confused status from confusion made short work of Brock’s Onix.

On the way to mount moon another Spearow was added to the party. I don’t have a team of 6 yet, so it will be kept in the party for now and leveled up. Standing at the door to Mt. Moon

Collecting Pause, Pokemon Firered Nuzlocke

I haven’t been able to buy anything in a while. I got Animal Crossing 3ds as a gift, but that’s it. I’m too poor. I need a job.

In the meantime, I think i’ll keep an update record of my Pokemon Firered Nuzlocke run I started Yesterday.

Day 1:

Kuro began his Journey to become a Pokemon Master. Starting with a female Charmander he named “Rathian”. He immediately kicked his rival “Douche’s” ass. Heading to Viridian city encountering many Pokemon, no Poke balls yet so I guess I get nothing on Route 1. Heading on over to route 22 first encounter is a Spearow, Captured and named “Quropeco”. Leveled both up to 12 and once again kicked Douche’s butt.

Day 2:

Moving on up to Route 2, first encounter is a Weedle that gets to be named “Vespoid”. Heading into Viridian Forest, First Encounter was a Caterpie I named “Bnahabra” (if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m so far themeing names of Monster Hunter monsters). Making it through Viridian Forest I stop at the other end of Route 2 to level everyone up some for the upcoming first gym battle. So far everyone is 13. Caterpie is now Butterfree and Weedle is now Beedrill.
